JavaScript Debugger (part 1 of 2)

JavaScript Debugger is a #1 tool for finding logical errors in your code.

The videos below takes you through a sample debugging session. You learn how to:

  • Set breakpoints
  • Break the execution with Run to Cursor and other commands
  • Examine the state of the variables
  • Use the Watch window
  • Use the Stack Frames window

After watching this video, proceed to the part 2, which deals with complex variables.

Note: you need Microsoft Script Debugger installed. If you do not already have it in place, you probably won’t be able to find it because Microsoft no longer supplies it. There’s an alternative – please see How to Debug JavaScript Code.
